This course is aiming to make the frontline nurses better understand Smart4Health, as well as easing them into the created platforms, clearly outlining the benefits of the project’s outcomes, with the view of raising the audience’s interests and converting them into potential end-users. 

This online course is aimed at all ‘lifelong learners’, especially frontline nurses, who want to learn more about the digitalization of the health care system and the opportunities it offers. It is intended as an advanced Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course. Technical background knowledge is not needed for this course. 

Participants are expected to spend 1 to 2 hours through the instructional course.

Target audience: nurses.

This course is an introduction to the digitalisation of healthcare to the nursing workforce. Nurses following this course will be taught on what is the “digitalisation” in a broader sense, to then move to an explanation on how digitalisation is transforming 1) the way healthcare is understood, 2) the way healthcare is provided, and 3) patients’/citizens’ expectancies of their healthcare providers.

This course is aimed at getting a broad perspective of what the EU’s digitalisation policy has been during the last decade, the political motives triggering it, and the differences between the digitalisation of health occurring at the national level and that at the EU level. Participants will be eased into how the EU institutions continued fostering the digitalisation of health through several research programmes, including projects like Smart4Health. Finally, this course explains the frontline impact that all these have in the nursing profession, as well as some predictions for the future.
